I’ll be honest, buying artificial plants was an impulse decision that I made in the later part of pregnancy in the Fall of 2023, as I’d never considered artificial plants to satisfy my desire of porch decoration and front yard landscaping. However, they are something that I have really enjoyed since then. Each year since living in our home, I’ve bought some fresh plants to plant in pots or the ground in/around the front porch. The problem is that I never quite get the planting process right – either I mistime when I do it in the season, I don’t use the right soil, or I fail to water enough (sometimes I’ve just forgotten to water.. I’m not the best, okay). So, the plants often will either die early due to my planting mistakes, or they die naturally (end of the season). I feel like we can all relate to my experience at least once before!
I knew that I would be busy taking care of my newborn this planting season, which inspired my semi-impulse purchase that I made in the Fall. Because I didn’t think I’d want to get out and do my normal landscaping beautification in the Spring, I went ahead and got ourselves ready ahead of time. Not only did I ready ourselves for Spring.. the bonus was that we also had calming and lush green plants for the winter, which in the Midwest is normally just filled with gray and brown. And this past winter these plants have looked excellent (you can see how they looked in contrast with snow on the ground in the thumbnail). The icing on the cake is that I won’t have to do anything in the Spring.. The plants will remain the same and look pleasant throughout the year! The pots can be found here and are great for artificial plants as well as real plants. They’re very durable and have plenty of space in them to put a rock or brick as an anchor at the bottom. They also are quite lightweight for their durability and are very portable for when we’ve cleaned off our front porch. The fake plants can be found here. I’m pleased with their look and calming appearance on our patio. Plus, I won’t have to buy new plants each year to plant and watch inevitably die 😦 . It’s good girl math if you ask me.. Finally, my husband really enjoyed the look of the plants over the winter where there’s no green on any real plant, which is a rarity as he normally doesn’t appreciate the “aesthetic things” quite like I do, lol. He’s equally as pleased he doesn’t have to help me plant plants (and then take care of them for me when I forget!) this Spring! So if you’re looking for an easy way to spruce up your front or back porches or front door of an apartment without putting in practically any effort, these two items in combination with each other are excellent!
