Safe & Non-Toxic Laundry Care for the Whole Family

This blog might contain some affiliate links to items listed on Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate, I might earn commission from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. However, I do not post links to items that I do not personally own, so anything that I might link in efforts to inform and assist are solely things that have helped me and inspired the writing of this blog.

Like you probably have at some point, I kind of always had a suspicion that big box brand/animal-tested products for skin and body care, laundry care, etc. that are laden with chemicals might be harmful to my family and I, but more research has come out recently creating firm linkage. When my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, we made the conscious decision to look at all of our household items and identify areas in which we could eliminate some synthetic chemicals to help us in the process. One of the changes we made in our efforts at minimizing synthetic chemicals in our household was to make the transition from synthetically formulated detergent to natural laundry powder and products.

“Dye Free, Animal By-Product Free, Bleach Free, Chemical Free, Formaldehyde Free “ could not be words that could be used to describe the majority of store brand staple laundry detergents, but they are all words that can safely be used to describe Molly’s Suds Laundry Powder that can be found here. In addition, Molly’s Suds has an “activewear” powder that has some extra strength at breaking down sweat and bacteria from exercise that we use for my husbands notoriously stinky gym/running clothes. My husband has allergies and sensitive skin, so we buy the fragrance-free bags from both options to minimize potential any sources of irritants or allergens.

Not only is the laundry powder safer for humans and better for the environment, it’s also quite cheap relative to generic products because it’s a bulk-buy purchase. We store the bags of laundry power in some sleek glass jars that can be found here. They help reinforce the aesthetic feel to our laundry room. Finally, we bought some dryer balls to replace dryer sheets that can be found here. The dryer balls are eco-friendly and last over a thousand loads. They have replaced our dryer sheets & liquid fabric softeners, reducing our garbage waste. They’re a healthy, petroleum-free alternative to plastic dryer steamer balls and dryer sheets! They’ve been the perfect final product to round out our transition away from traditional laundry care products to a natural and more eco-friendly lineup of products. This was an area that was quite easy to make the change from big store brand products to a natural, chemical-free line of products as the costs weren’t anything extra (we ended up spending less) and the products worked as required.
