Chemicals in body care items can be harmful due to their potential to cause adverse health effects. Many personal care products, such as lotions, shampoos, and cosmetics, often contain synthetic chemicals, preservatives, fragrances, and other additives. Prolonged and repeated exposure to these substances can lead to various health concerns, including skin irritation, allergic reactions, endocrine disruption, and even an increased risk of certain health conditions. Some chemicals in body care items have been linked to reproductive and developmental issues, hormone imbalances, and long-term health risks. Choosing products with fewer harmful chemicals, opting for natural and organic alternatives, and being informed about the ingredients in personal care items can help individuals reduce their exposure to potentially harmful substances.
Like you probably have at some point, I kind of always had a suspicion that these animal-tested products laden with chemicals might be harmful to me, but more research has come out recently creating firm linkage. When we were trying to get pregnant, we made the conscious decision to look at all of our household items and identify areas in which we could eliminate some synthetic chemicals. One of the changes we made was switching to Ginger Lily Farms Products as they’re chemical, paraben, fragrance-free (but they have a good natural smell), and vegan/cruelty-free. Not only are they better for our overall health due to their makeup, but we’ve actually saved a decent amount of money as we buy them in gallon jugs (my husband works out quite a bit and sometimes showers multiple times a day.. trust me, it’s nice having gallon jugs of soap/shampoo!) Having the gallon jugs has allowed for him to use the large amount of body wash and shampoo he uses each day without it hurting our pocket books so badly! We use their vegan products for our body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion and can be purchased at the links below:
Pumps (For gallon jugs) – we put the pumps in the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner jugs and just leave the jugs in our shower.
Mason Jar Soap Dispensers (for our hand soap.. we don’t leave the gallon jugs on the counters!). These soap dispensers are sleek and very neutral for most vibes out there. We have them at our sinks and I love the way they fit into the aesthetic I “try” to create!
We really are excited to have made the switch. All five items have a great natural smell to them, and putting a pump into the jugs isn’t difficult at all. In addition, not only did we make a healthy change for our overall health, but we also save a decent amount of money from buying in bulk and the products are already fairly cheaply priced. We take comfort knowing that these are cruelty-free as opposed to many leading brands in the grocery stores. It’s a win-win to make the change from grocery store brands/big box brands to Ginger Lily Farm for both price savings and health benefits!
